Scope: This privacy policy applies to the SmartDarts mobile app.
Developed and operated by smartdarts.io in Switzerland.
It describes how personal data is processed in the app and what permissions are required.
and how data protection is guaranteed.

2. Purpose of the app
The SmartDarts app is used to set up, monitor, and control a SmartScore Home / SmartScore Raspberry Pi (e.g. SmartScore Home Kit).
- Setting up the Wi-Fi access data for the Raspberry Pi
- Activation / license verification using activation code
- Control of the Autodarts service (Start/Stop/Restart via SSH)
- Display of status information (temperature, Wi-Fi quality)
- Accessing the board manager on the Pi (web interface at
playsmartdarts.local:3180) - Optional: Sending diagnostic logs to SmartDarts support
The app only works in conjunction with SmartDarts devices and the associated backend. It collects No movement tracking data is collected and it is not used for advertising or analytics purposes.
3. What data is processed?

4. Location access (iOS requirement)
The app requires location access on iOS to determine the currently connected Wi-Fi SSID. This is a technical requirement from Apple, as SSID data is classified as "location-related information".
The specific location (GPS, movement profiles) is not recorded or stored.
There is no tracking or motion recording .
5. No sharing with advertising or tracking services
- No personal data will be shared with advertising networks.
- No analytics SDKs (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics) are used in the app.
- There is no in-app tracking, no profiling, and no personalized advertising .
6. Server communication (SmartDarts backend)
The app communicates exclusively via encrypted (HTTPS) communication with the following domains:
Depending on the function, the following data will be transmitted:
- Wi-Fi setup data (SSID, password, country, activation code, device identifiers if applicable) to prepare your SmartDarts device.
- Activation code and app device ID for license verification
- Optional error logs (only if actively sent via email or support form)
This data will be used exclusively for the setup and operation of your SmartDarts device.
7. Use of third-party services (Autodarts)
The SmartDarts app includes links and integration functions for the external service Autodarts. (Website https://play.autodarts.io ). Autodarts is operated by an independent third-party provider and not by smartdarts.io.
- The app opens Autodarts in the browser, e.g. to create an account or to manage your board.
- The actual data processing (e.g. login, game statistics, boards) takes place directly at Autodarts.
- This processing is subject to Autodarts' privacy policy – we have no influence over it.
We do not actively send any personal user data to Autodarts . However, as soon as you enter data in the browser or on the Autodarts website, this happens directly with the provider of Autodarts.
8. Data security
- Encryption: All transmissions to the SmartDarts server are via HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).
- Local storage: Activation codes and installation IDs are securely stored in the iOS Keychain.
- Wi-Fi data: Wi-Fi passwords are only used temporarily and are not permanently stored in the app.
- Access protection: Only authorized persons within SmartDarts have access to data necessary for support.
9. User rights (access, deletion, etc.)
Within the framework of applicable data protection laws (e.g., DSG/GDPR), you have, in particular, the following rights:
- Right to information (What data is stored about you?)
- Right to rectification (correction of inaccurate data)
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to data portability (where applicable)
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

10. Log data and error analysis
The SmartDarts app generates internal log data (e.g., SSH output, error messages) to show you in the developer view. to help with troubleshooting.
- These logs remain on your device by default.
- You can send them manually via email to SmartDarts support.
- In this case, the transmitted information (e.g., SSH output, status messages) will be used exclusively for error analysis.
11. Storage period
We only store personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfill the respective purposes. (e.g. activation, support) or as required by statutory retention obligations.
Data that is stored locally for the app's functionality (e.g., activation code) can be deleted by removing the app or Reset app data.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This privacy policy may be updated in the event of technical changes to the app or legal adjustments.
